Slate Insulated Shade Structure

A 40' x 12' Alumawood insulated shade structure in slate and white colors was installed for a repeat client in Pahrump. The structure features four plated posts on existing flat work, two fan beams, and attachment to the fascia and home. Alumawood's option to mix colors adds a modern, personalized look to the structure, providing aesthetic benefits. Using contrasting colors creates depth, highlights specific areas, matches the home's exterior, and adds visual interest. Practical reasons for color mixing include hiding dirt, offering sun protection, and camouflaging specific elements, providing both aesthetic and functional advantages.

Here is a slate insulated shade structure by Alumawood that we installed for our great, repeat client here in Pahrump.

This patio cover is a 40′ x 12′ insulated roof shade structure. This shade structure is roughly 480 square feet. We plated four posts to the existing flat work that was already at the house. There are two fan beams in this structure. We attached the shade structure to the fascia and home. This shade structure uses two colors. The roof, gutter, and channel is white in color. The trim, beams, side plates, and downspouts are all slate in color.

We love the mixed white and slate insulated shade structure colors that Alumawood offers.

People mix the colors of their patio covers for several reasons, both aesthetic and practical:

AESTHETIC REASONS

  • Modern and personalized look: Combining colors can create a more modern and visually appealing design compared to a single-color scheme. It allows for personalization and reflects individual style.
  • Accents and highlights: Using two colors adds depth and dimension to the patio cover, highlighting specific areas or features.
  • Matching the home’s exterior: Mixing colors can help tie the patio cover in with the existing color scheme of the house, creating a cohesive look.
  • Contrast and visual interest: Contrasting colors can create a more visually interesting and eye-catching patio cover, making it a focal point of the outdoor space.

PRACTICAL REASONS

  • Hide dirt and imperfections: Lighter colors, especially on top surfaces, can show dirt more easily. Using a darker color for the top or specific areas can help mask dust and minor imperfections.
  • Sun protection: Darker colors tend to absorb more heat, which can be beneficial in cooler climates. However, in very hot climates, lighter colors might be preferred for better heat reflection.
  • Camouflage specific elements: You can use a darker color for posts or beams to blend them in with the background, making the overall structure appear lighter.

Ultimately, the decision to mix colors is a personal one, depending on the desired aesthetic, practical considerations, and individual preferences.
